Trump weighs-in on WV's senators after the impeachment vote
Guess which one is a puppet, and which one is a great person
(Hint -- the puppet is not the one that votes 96% of the time with the President.)
From President Trump's Twitter* account:
I was very surprised & disappointed that Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia voted against me on the Democrat’s . . .
Mitt Romney
Some different points of view of the Republican senator
Donald Trump
Today, just after midnight:
Had failed presidential candidate @MittRomney devoted the same energy and anger to defeating a faltering Barack Obama as he sanctimoniously does to me, he could have won the election. Read the Transcripts!

More on Manchin’s censure vote (with 1 pm and Manchin decision updates)
Sorry, Joe, it’s doomed -- you're going to have to vote on the articles of impeachment
Senator Manchin has proposed censuring President Trump rather than impeaching him. (See previous post.) Here’s more evidence from The Hill that it’s not going to happen:
Sen. Mike Braun (R-Ind.), asked if there was an appetite for a potential censure, said, “No. Zero.”
A spokesman for McConnell declined to answer a question . . .

"Moderate" Manchin proposes censuring Trump (with 2/4 update)
Why? To "unite across party lines"? I don't think that it's going to happen, Senator
From the Washington Post this evening:
Sen. Joe Manchin III (D-W.Va.), a moderate who is friendly with the White House, on Monday asked his colleagues to consider censuring President Trump as the Senate moves toward votes on impeachment.
“I do believe a bipartisan majority of this body would vote to censure President Trump . . .

Here's Senator Capito explaining how she will vote later today
There are no surprises
Senator Shelley Moore Capito talked with WV Metro News earlier today about the upcoming impeachment votes.
To no one's surprise, Capito said that she would vote to acquit:
. . .She said in the end, Trump’s phone call with the leader of Ukraine didn’t rise to the level of impeachment and removal from office.

Tuesday updates -- West Virginia’s senators on impeachment
Joe Manchin wants witnesses
In an interview this afternoon, Joe Manchin told Fox News that he wants to hear from witnesses:
"I don't know how I go home to West Virginia and explain that I had to make a decision in a trial, the most important thing that I have ever done or will ever do as an elected official, an . . .

More hypocrisy from Senator Capito
Is she giving her “undivided attention” and listening “acutely” during the impeachment trial? You be the judge
From Senator Shelley Moore Capito’s op-ed in this morning’s Bluefield Daily Telegraph:
Impeachment is a serious issue that deserves the Senate’s undivided attention, and my colleagues and I intend to treat this process as such and perform our constitutional duty.
But here is Michael McAuliff, political reporter . . .
