Alex Mooney: “It doesn’t matter that I voted against the bill and called it “reckless spending” – it now makes me look good!”
Hypocrisy? Of course not, he’s a Republican
Back on August 1, the Wheeling Intelligencer featured an op-ed by West Virginia Congressman Alex Mooney in which he claimed that Joe Manchin had betrayed West Virginians by supporting various Biden legislation on infrastructure: specifically, the American Rescue Plan and the Inflation Reduction Act.* Here was Mooney on the American Rescue . . .
It's not unlike the Covid crisis
For over two years, Republicans have fought mask and vaccination requirements put in place to slow the virus. The nimble virus has responded by mutating and then infecting more victims. (We are apparently in the early stages of another virus rally.) Republicans then blame President Biden for not solving the Covid crisis. (Rinse, repeat.). . .
In today's Wheeling News-Register, Senator Shelley Moore Capito issues a stern warning: “The GOP Won't Let Democrats Change Senate Rules”
Democrats: please pay attention. Only Republicans are allowed to change Senate rules to get around the filibuster
Capito begins her op-ed:
We are at a critical moment in history.
With the slimmest of majorities, Democrats haven't been able to pass their wildly unpopular and dangerous agenda. As a result, they are considering using the nuclear option to eliminate the Senate's 60-vote threshold for legislation. And, they are doing . . .
Senator Capito (R - Hypocrisy) explaining her "no" vote on Tuesday: "Many provisions in the so-called COVID relief package have nothing to do with COVID at all" (with update)
Earlier today, Capito voted for the Tuberville amendment
What, you ask, is the Tuberville amendment?
Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) introduces an amendment to the COVID relief bill about ... trans athletes in sports?— . . .

West Virginia Secretary of State Mac Warner's op-ed in today’s Wheeling News-Register: “Confidence in Government Begins With Election Process”
Hey, Mac, do you think a secretary of state who attends and speaks at a “Stop the Steal” rally breeds confidence in the integrity of the election process?
On December 9, West Virginia Secretary of State Mac Warner certified West Virginia’s election results. That evening, he attended and spoke at a Trump “Stop the Steal” rally in Charleston. At the time, there was no evidence that any election had been stolen and there has been none presented since then.
WV Secretary of State . . .
Is it part of their hypocrisy or are they just rubbing the Democrats’ faces in it?
In a tweet earlier today, the West Virginia GOP quotes the Senate Democratic Minority Leader, Charles Schumer:
Senate Democrats have agreed, the Supreme Court needs 9 justices to function properly:
Minority Leader Chuck Schumer: “Every day that goes by without a ninth justice is another day the American people’s business is not getting . . .
