Playing the role of the playground bully is David McKinley (WV – 1)
The congressman reprises his role from last year’s Fauci hearings
Remember last year when our local representative tried to intimidate Dr. Anthony Fauci in a congressional hearing only to have the doctor turn the tables and make the congressman look petty and foolish? (Not everyone agrees with my assessment: our local Republican propaganda outlet, The Wheeling Intelligencer, later told us in an editorial . . .
WV’s representatives vote against the Violence Against Women Act
Yesterday, the House of Representatives passed the Violence Against Women Act and as with the last vote on the bill in 2019, all three of West Virginia’s representatives voted against the legislation.

Today’s Wheeling Intelligencer top story: “McKinley To Continue Fight for Fossil Fuels” (with required large picture) (Updated 2/19)
There’s not much news in the article but it is an opportunity for the locals to feature our local congressman criticizing President Biden and his energy policy
According to the article, McKinley is worried about the effects that President Biden's environmental policy will have on employment. If I understand his point, McKinley believes that we need to subsidize fossil fuels* because people are employed in those industries:
“We have to make sure we are going to personalize it and . . .
Covid stuff with some odds and ends on a cloudy day in early February
You would think that those who were at the head of line would have some sympathy for those who weren’t
Not necessarily so. Here’s our local congressman, David McKinley:
Nominee for terrible legislator:
“Complaining about not getting enough vaccines is like complaining about the size of your meal," said Rep. David McKinley . . .
Earlier today: Congressman David McKinley admitted that “Trump was responsible for what happened on Wednesday” but then added “so were others”
McKinley also believes that Trump “didn’t intend for someone to break into the Capitol building”
Ready with his false equivalencies, David McKinley (WV-1) was on Hoppy Kercheval’s talk show earlier today. Kercheval asked McKinley if Trump was responsible for the attack on the Capitol. McKinley answered “yes, absolutely” but then he quickly suggested that others were to blame:
”But so was the media, talk shows, social . . .
How they voted
How WV's congressional delegation voted on the critical votes this week.
Most non-Ogden newspapers that I'm familiar with usually keep its readers informed on how their local congressional delegation voted on important legislation. (If it's not in a story about the bill, it's usually under the headline "How They Voted.") In the absence of such a newspaper locally, here via govtrack.us is how . . .
WV Republicans rally round Trump’s efforts to steal the election
The WV GOP, AG Morrisey and Governor Justice do their part as Capito and McKinley remain silent
From the West Virginia Republican Party
This fight is not over. President Trump will continue to fight for us, and we will continue to fight for him. The American people are entitled to an honest election. We must ensure every legal vote must be counted. We must investigate any allegations of fraud. pic.twitter.com/DrAcKkZu9e
