The decline of the American newspaper continues – the Youngstown Vindicator to cease publication in August
Is Ogden a potential buyer?
On Friday, the Youngstown Vindicator announced that it was shutting down operations at the end of August. As the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported:
The Vindicator, which recently marked its 150th publication anniversary and is Youngstown’s only daily newspaper, told employees Friday afternoon that it will close. . . .

The times may be changing: let’s move Representative David McKinley and Wheeling’s “newspapers” out of the “climate change denier” column
But let's not move them too far
You don’t need a climatologist to know which way the wind blows
Nationally, there would appear to be a growing consensus that something must be done about climate change. For example, Axios recently summarized why we may have reached a “tipping point on climate change”:

Obamacare’s positive effects on WV’s opioid crisis
(This is probably the last time you’ll read about this)
A number of sites that cover health care are featuring a just-released study of Obamacare’s effects on the West Virginia’s opioid crisis. For example, Vox reported earlier today:
Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion is helping fight West Virginia’s opioid epidemic

On Saturday, the Wheeling Intelligencer provided a short summary as well as the denials from a . . .

WV Secretary of State just cost WV over three million more dollars in wrongful termination lawsuits
Two months ago, West Virginia Secretary of State Mac Warner lost the first lawsuit to former employees who were wrongfully fired when he took office in January 2017. Here is how the Charleston Gazette-Mail described it last month:
The lawsuits stem from Warner’s firing of 16 rank-and-file employees in the secretary of . . .

That Maxine Waters reference is not very subtle, Patrick
Trailing in the polls and with nothing positive to offer, the Morrisey campaign is beginning to show its desperation
I’ve noted previously how Republican candidate Patrick Morrisey’s campaign essentially consists of two elements: his total embrace of President Trump and the connecting of his opponent, Joe Manchin, with Democratic politicians that he believes are hated by West Virginians. While Morrisey's campaign website does have an issues section, we’ . . .
