Ogden Newspapers adds another politician to its stable of favorites
More love for the descendants of Arch Moore*
A year ago, the Sunday Wheeling News-Register published a front-page article about Riley Moore, Senator Capito’s nephew and grandson of former West Virginia governor, Arch Moore. As I wrote then:
Ogden political reporter, Steven Allen Adams, and the News-Register have outdone themselves with one of the longest front-page stories . . .
Zero: The sum total of articles in today’s Wheeling Intelligencer about the arrest of Rudy Giuliani’s buddies or their contribution to WV AG Morrisey’s PAC (with afternoon update)
The ties to West Virginia attorney general Patrick Morrisey's PAC (see previous post) are a front-page story in the Charleston paper, on the WV Metro News site, and the featured article on WV Public’s website. Of note, the Inter-Mountain, another Ogden West Virginia paper, listed it’s coverage by Ogden political reporter, Steven . . .
I guess that’s what happens when you increase font size*
The Wheeling Intelligencer prints only the first 219 words of a 1312-word AP story on the Trump impeachment probe
Last evening, the Associated Press reported the day’s activities by Democratic congressmen investigating the president’s actions in the Ukraine and the Trump administration’s, especially Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s, pushback.

Here’s some of the important elements of the newspaper’s business model as I described them in my first post:
- 1. Minimize costs by cutting workers, . . .
Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren campaigned in West Virginia yesterday
While various WV media sources prominently featured her visit, our local Ogden "newspapers" ignored it
Candidate Warren spoke yesterday to a crowd in Kermit, West Virginia. Here's the AP headline and story that ran in over 600 news sources in the last 24 hours:
Warren's opioids message applauded in hard-hit West Virginia
And here's the story's lede:
Democratic presidential candidate . . .

The Wheeling Intelligencer covers the Mueller report
Half of the AP story but with a different headline
At the bottom of this morning’s front page is an Associated Press article on special counsel Robert Mueller’s findings. The Intelligencer included slightly over half of the 1500+ word article. The AP’s title for the article and the one used by almost all media sources was

The times may be changing: let’s move Representative David McKinley and Wheeling’s “newspapers” out of the “climate change denier” column
But let's not move them too far
You don’t need a climatologist to know which way the wind blows
Nationally, there would appear to be a growing consensus that something must be done about climate change. For example, Axios recently summarized why we may have reached a “tipping point on climate change”:
A rare convergence of science that reveals the . . .
