More Ogden lies about Michigan’s Governor Whitmer
This one has scary implications
Three weeks ago, our local Ogden “newspaper” editor, claimed that Michigan’s Gretchen Whitmer had significantly restricted the civil liberties of her constituents. Of course, if you checked out his claims, none were true. (See here.) Today, there is more of the same in the Wheeling News-Register editorial cartoon:
Let’s . . .
Ogden and the continuing decline of newspapers
Last week, S&P Global Market Intelligence documented how the coronavirus was hurting newspapers regardless of size or the community it served:
Over the past two weeks, dozens of local publications across the country have furloughed or laid off reporters, reduced the frequency of their publishing or dropped their print . . .

So much for curiosity and research
Our local editor looks at national park closings
Today’s Mike Myer column is similar to his April column on the closings precipitated by the spread of the coronavirus: (1) it attempts to make the case for keeping things (in this case, the national parks) open, and (2) it does so by pure assertion.

How to lie with statistics
Trump/McKinley Paycheck Protection Program edition
On Tuesday, our local congressman, David McKinley, retweeted the following from the GOP and the White House:

Yesterday, the Nashua Telegraph told its readers that it would cease daily publication (as of today) and only print a Sunday edition. According to The New Hampshire Center for Public Interest Journalism:
Saying they are “accelerating our move into the future,” The Telegraph of Nashua is moving online and ending its print . . .

At yesterday’s coronavirus briefing, President Trump suggested ultraviolet light and injecting disinfectants as possible treatments for the coronavirus (with updates)
Trump covered other subjects -- his briefing is news and yet there is no mention of it in this morning’s Wheeling Intelligencer
Here is some video from yesterday’s briefing:

As doctors and Lysol were quick to point out, drinking or injecting a disinfectant is an incredibly dangerous thing to do.
Did our morning “newspaper” cover any of this? . . .
