Myer yesterday, Myer today
Our local editor on West Virginia’s spike in coronavirus cases
From today’s column, “Backsliding Into a Wave Of Death in West Virginia,” by local editor Mike Myer:
It appears some have decided the coronavirus scare is a plot to erode their personal liberties. If so, it’s a heckuva well-done one. The last time I looked, COVID-19 had killed more than 191,000 Americans.

Explaining the music at Trump events
Cluelessness? Their sense of irony surgically removed? Accidents? Trolling by event staff? All of the above?
I saw the following as I was reviewing Trump’s recent rallies -- it’s from the beginning of yesterday’s Trump rally in Michigan:

Get ready, Wheeling!
There was a Riley Moore sighting in Wheeling earlier today which means a front-page placement in Friday's and/or Saturday's paper

Our focus, as always, has been on keeping readers up to speed on local news, including our communities’ . . .
Their silence speaks loudly
What have our local congressman and local Ogden papers had to say about the Trump/veterans story?
I assume (unless Ogden papers are the only source of news) that most of my local readers are aware of the national news stories that has probably garnered the most attention since it broke on Thursday – The Atlantic’s investigation of President Trump’s attitudes towards veterans:
President Trump, who never served in the military, canceled . . .
Today’s Intelligencer editorial page continues its “wide range of viewpoints” supporting Trump’s Republican Party
Last week, in one of its periodic self-congratulatory editorials, the Wheeling Intelligencer bragged about the "wide range of viewpoints" on its editorial page. As I noted, last Thursday’s edition included it usual collection of right-wing, far right-wing, and crazy right-wing opinion writers. Today is no different. Yes, there’s . . .
