The Wheeling Alternative
(Updated with results) Here's something to keep you interested if you're watching the Republican debate tonight
Candidate BINGO!
Which candidate will get 5-in-a-row first?
Assign a card to each of the candidates and fill the space as they say the words:
First to get five-in-a-row wins!
According to my bookie, here are the current odds on winning:
- Patrick Morrisey 8 - 5 (the favorite even though "blowing-up . . .
Fortune Magazine just put West Virginia teachers on their list of “The World’s 50 Greatest Leaders”
A look at some of the online reaction to the West Virginia teacher strike
On Thursday, Fortune published its annual list of the World’s 50 Greatest Leaders. There, among heads-of-state, movers, shakers, CEO’s, and football coaches are “West Virginia Teachers” sitting at number 31.
Fortune’s write-up:

WV’s senatorial candidates have it all wrong – we don’t need another “outsider” who will shake-up (or blow-up in Morissey’s case) Washington
What West Virginia needs is another “insider” like Robert C. Byrd

Gee was in Wheeling at Oglebay’s . . .

What do you think? I'm looking for comments on a Morning Consult poll that shows Senator Manchin losing 17 points from his January poll numbers
Morning Consult which does a quarterly poll measuring the approval and disapproval numbers for U.S. senators just published their most recent poll. The results are not good for WV Democrat Joe Manchin whose difference between approval and disapproval showed the biggest decline:
Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, who is up for . . .

What’s Bob Murray and Murray Energy been doing lately?
It wasn't too long ago that Ohio Valley residents regularly read Murray Energy PR releases posing as news stories on the front pages of our local Ogden “newspapers.” I’m not sure what has changed but I don't see them as often as I once did. In case your day is not complete without Murray Energy news, here are some recent stories . . .
