So much for compromise
Mike Myer blames unions (surprise, surprise) for the rejection of the Republican omnibus education bill
Editor Mike Myer begins today’s column, “No Incentive to Compromise,” by looking first at national politics. He writes:
Clearly, compromise is dead in Washington, D.C.
I assume Myer is referring to the recent government shutdown which was originally precipitated by the president’s rejection of a compromise between . . .

Today’s Wheeling News-Register editorial assures us that the current EPA can be relied upon to enforce environmental rules. Why don’t I believe them?
Answer: I did some research on the EPA's Chemours decision
The editorial, “Proving the EPA Can Be Relied Upon,” doesn’t prove what it says it does. It begins:

A follow-up on reactions to Trump’s executive order
What did West Virginia's congressional delegation and the Wheeling Intelligencer have to say about Trump's order?
What do West Virginia’s representatives think?

An idea whose time has come!
From WV MetroNews:
Representatives from the West Virginia Affiliated Construction Trades (ACT) Foundation plan to set up at the state capitol Wednesday. They are offering free drug testing to any West Virginia lawmaker who wants to take part.
“It’s a full test. We have a third-party professional who’s doing it,” . . .

Guns on West Virginia's college campuses?
The NRA tries again
The National Rifle Association was excited at the end of last month – its Institute for Legislative Action reported on what was happening in the West Virginia legislature:
West Virginia has hit the ground running. With session having started only two weeks ago, three pro-gun bills have already been introduced. Two of these bills . . .
