Hey, Intelligencer -- you left out the third paragraph of this morning's AP report on the Trump/Democrat meeting to end the government shutdown
The front page of this morning's Wheeling Intelligencer carried part of an Associated Press report on yesterday's meeting between President Trump and Democratic leaders to end the government shutdown. Unfortunately for local readers, the Intelligencer skipped the AP's third paragraph. (The missing paragraph is in bold.)

Where is the "light and information" on our local congressional race?
Unfortunately, you won’t find any in the Wheeling Intelligencer
Light and information?
This coming Friday is the anniversary of the Wheeling Intelligencer’s founding and if the past is any prologue, we will get to read yet another editorial telling us what an incredible job the Intelligencer does in serving its readers. The editorial will most likely quote the paper’s founding philosophy:
. . .What is news?
A look at how the Wheeling Intelligencer and national newspapers handled the report on priest molestation in Pennsylvania (with afternoon update)
The top story on last evening’s network newscasts was the report from a Pennsylvania grand jury that Roman Catholic priests had molested over 1,000 children.

If you go to Kiosko, you'll find that all five of today’s featured papers plus The Wall Street Journal placed it at the top of their front page. As the Associated Press headlined it in one of its many reports:

It's appears to be getting very close
Politico reported on Saturday night that recent Republican internal polls suggested that Don Blankenship had made significant gains on his two rivals. A few minutes ago, the conservative Weekly Standard claimed to have the specifics:

Anniversary time
Same old, same old
It’s August 24, the day that the Wheeling Intelligencer was founded in 1852. Of course, the anniversary is an excuse for an editorial telling us what a great job they are doing in serving their readers. In a long lifetime of personal and professional media observation, I have never seen a media entity praise itself to the extent that Ogden . . .
