Welcoming refugees
Are West Virginians as hospitable as legislators and Ogden Newspapers think they are?
The editorial
Yesterday’s Ogden editorial, “WVa. a Welcome Home for Refugees,” begins by telling us what the WV legislature did at the end of their most recent legislative session:
Among the last resolutions adopted by West Virginia lawmakers before the end of this year’s regular legislative session was one urging . . .
Kathy Griffin, Ben Shapiro, Kurt Cobain and the Wheeling Intelligencer
Back in November of 2017, the Wheeling Intelligencer ran an editorial that cheered the fact that comedian Kathy Griffin was having difficulty finding jobs after she had posted “a video of herself holding a fake severed head that strongly resembled the president of the United States.” (I wrote about it here). The editorial could not hide its . . .

The Intelligencer shows more disdain for its readers: today's lead editorial is the same editorial that was published last Wednesday

This is not an isolated incidence -- it is the third time in the last four . . .
December 23, 2021: The word “principled” is stripped of all meaning

Yesterday’s pages included an editorial, a McKinley op-ed, and a column by WV’s senators telling us all the good that will come from the infrastructure . . .

Infrastructure, Build Back Better, and David McKinley
Today’s Wheeling Intelligencer editorializes about the infrastructure package in order to praise/support our local congressman
The infrastructure bill passed early Saturday morning. Despite its importance, there was nothing about the legislation in yesterday’s local papers. (See previous post.) Today, the Intelligencer continued to ignore the particulars of the bill but did editorially applaud local representative and Ogden favorite, David McKinley, for voting for . . .

Last week’s news
When was today's front section assembled? Last Friday? Today’s front page has stories on the local police department looking for applicants, the county’s Humane Officer retiring, a local county commissioner deciding to run again, the new president of Marshall University, and a 2,300-word feature story about a . . .
