I’m in my tenth year of blogging and often I write about Wheeling’s two Ogden newspapers, the Intelligencer and the News-Register. And while headlines and stories certainly change from day to day, the Wheeling Intelligencer’s August 24 editorial . . .

Today’s Wheeling Intelligencer editorial is old and recycled (nothing new)
More importantly, it is also intellectually dishonest
Today’s editorial, “Poor Timing at Play With Ohio Issue 1,” follows its Monday predecessors – it’s old and it’s from an Ogden Ohio paper. (In this case, it appears to have been first published by the Youngstown Vindicator over two months ago on May 21.) Most importantly, it wants us to believe that Ohio Issue 1, which will change the Ohio . . .
Answer: a large picture of a tractor, a WVU press release, yet another Ohio editorial along with one admonishing us to take driving seriously, and a syndicated columnist on why Giorgia Meloni is not a fascist
Question: What's in the morning paper?
The front page
Half the page is taken up by a story with two pictures of the upcoming Oglebayfest. (A picture of a park tractor takes up a fourth of the page.)
Also on the front page is something from ”staff reports” that is actually a word-for-word PR release from West Virginia University detailing President E. Gordon Gee’s . . .

Editorial #1: “Reverse Economic Trend”
It's more Ohio crap: the editorial, “Reverse economic trend,” tells us that the poverty rate in Ohio is 12.7” and that it is “0.8% higher than the national rate.” The editorial (most likely from the Marietta Times) then tells us that “we need” to do . . .
The Monday Intelligencer: Another recycled editorial and Steven Allen Adams writes about a popular meme that he says doesn’t make West Virginians look good
The lazy Intelligencer once again demonstrates its disdain for its readership
If today’s lead editorial looked familiar, the exact same editorial was run on August 8 under a different title. Once again, the paper shows no respect for its readers; filler is all that matters.

Today’s only Wheeling Intelligencer editorial, “Freedom Is Key To Independence,” has made the rounds of at least twenty Ogden’s newspapers since 2019. The editorial is cliched and predictable; my hunch is that few readers actually made it all the way through this long, by Ogden standards, editorial. It does take up lots . . .
