Should we dismiss the recent reporting on Senator Manchin’s coal interests as old news?
Ogden’s political reporter thinks so
From Steven Allen Adams on Friday:
Can someone tell the folks crowing about the various articles detailing Manchin’s relationship w/ the Grant Town power plant that they didn’t reveal anything that hasn’t been known about for more than 20 years? It’s not hard hitting investigative reporting. It’s recycling.

Can anyone name a West Virginia newspaper that does investigative journalism and publishes diverse points-of-views on its op-ed page?
Obviously, rule out the Ogden papers. Okay, from time to time, the Charleston Gazette-Mail does do both. How about West Virginia University’s student newspaper, The Daily Athenaeum?
Here is a sample of some of the paper's recent investigative reporting

All hat, no cattle
The WV legislature and Ogden Newspapers have praised the state for its willingness to always help those in need. When it comes to Ukrainian refugees, do we deserve the praise?
In last Thursday’s Wheeling Intelligencer editorial, we were told that West Virginians
“are always willing to welcome new folks. . . . This is a West Virginia trait that does not differ based on the letter someone chooses to put after his or her last name. If someone needs our help, we give it.”

More disdain for its readers
Today’s Wheeling Intelligencer runs the same old Ohio editorial that it ran on March 7
I joked about it yesterday, but today’s paper runs yet another tired and meaningless Ohio editorial:
Improving Life Expectancy
This editorial appears to have originated in the Marietta Times five weeks ago:
Overcome life expectancy statistic; take care of yourself
