The Wheeling Alternative
WV’s senatorial candidates have it all wrong – we don’t need another “outsider” who will shake-up (or blow-up in Morissey’s case) Washington
What West Virginia needs is another “insider” like Robert C. Byrd
This post was prompted by an excellent essay in the Washington Post:
Stop treating voters like idiots. Thanks in advance
by Paul Wildman. Wildman explains:
[O]ur politics is no less dumb than it ever was. I’d like to take a look at one variant of that stupidity, which says that this vaguely defined . . .
Stop the presses -- this is front page news
One more example of the locals' fascination with all things Gee
I can't make this up. The front page headline reads:
WVU President E. Gordon Gee Visits Wheeling
And the article begins:
Prospective West Virginia University students and their parents got the chance to ask university President Gordon Gee “anything.”
Gee was in Wheeling at Oglebay’s . . .
"Donald Trump likes me best"
Republican Deathmatch 6
Can these guys get any closer to Trump?
(source: Associated Press)
Apparently not. As the Washington Post wrote today:
Among his qualifications for the U.S. Senate, Rep. Evan Jenkins wants West Virginia voters to know that he once attended a Christmas party with Donald Trump, flew with him on Air Force One . . .

It wasn't too long ago that Ohio Valley residents regularly read Murray Energy PR releases posing as news stories on the front pages of our local Ogden “newspapers.” I’m not sure what has changed but I don't see them as often as I once did. In case your day is not complete without Murray Energy news, here are some recent stories . . .

Yesterday’s news tomorrow: the Wheeling Intelligencer ignores Monday’s biggest story (with updates)
Not surprisingly, it’s about President Trump
Yesterday afternoon the office of President Trump’s personal attorney, Michael Cohen, was raided by federal agents. Documents were seized, and the president reacted angrily. The Associated Press’ first stories on the seizure appear to have gone out shortly after 4 PM. (Here is an early version.) Later that hour, local television news began to . . .

Is the Wheeling News-Register “Insisting on Ethical Conduct by Pruitt” (updated 4/10)
Are you kidding? Fox News, among others, is a whole lot tougher
Today’s News-Register editorial takes up the ethical questions surrounding the head of the EPA, Scott Pruitt. The editorial quickly dismisses the taxpayer’s money spent on his person security:
In directing what is a very politically incorrect campaign against some regulations, Pruitt is making many enemies. Consideration of . . .
