Reporter Jake Zuckerman examined the possibility of congressional debates in West Virginia on the front page of today’s Charleston Gazette-Mail and found a lack of interest by Republican candidates statewide. Here is what he said about WV’s 1st District:

What would you expect from Republicans who think Tim Armstead and Evan Jenkins are qualified to be WV Supreme Court justices?
I had two reactions to Ogden political reporter Steven Allen Adams’s front page article:
Over half of the article comes from quotes from WV Republican legislative leaders Mitch Carmichael and Roger Hanshaw who both support the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh. Who cares what the state’s Republican leaders think? Do they get a vote? . . .

Forget market forces, it’s still Obama’s fault
Yes, it’s another Intelligencer editorial on coal
First Energy recently announced that the W.H. Sammis Power Plant in Jefferson County will close in 2022. Of course, this becomes an excuse for yet another Intelligencer editorial promoting coal-fired power plants while at the same time blaming the former Obama administration.
Why will the plant be closing? The editorial tells us:

The Associated Press has published an article and map detailing the EPA analysis of the health effects of President Trump's rollback of Obama's EPA standards. Here's their conclusion:

Yesterday’s Wheeling News-Register editorial, “Reconsider Harsh ADA Enforcement,” mentions nothing about voter suppression choosing to blame the Americans with Disabilities Act for closing seven of nine voting sites because a consultant warned that these polling places were not ADA compliant.
