The Wheeling Alternative
Promising to generate “unique local content that you can’t find anywhere else,” Ogden Newspapers buys the Morgantown Dominion Post
Last week, from the Morgantown Dominion-Post:
BREAKING: Ogden Newspapers set to buy The Dominion Post
— The Dominion Post . . .
The Ogden Newspapers will purchase The Dominion Post from the Raese family of Morgantown and its West Virginia Newspaper Publishing Co., the two companies announced Wednesday.

The issue is disclosure
Once again, Ogden Newspapers comes up short
Answer
At most newspapers, the biggest story would likely be either A, C, or D. But the Wheeling News-Register only sometimes functions as a newspaper; its Republican bias in news coverage and its failure to disclose its conflicts of interests leave it woefully short of what some readers might expect.

Looking for news in the weekend Wheeling News-Register
Some thought on Ogden’s downsizing
Back in May of 2020, the local Ogden newspapers joined what was already a growing trend among daily newspapers across America, the elimination of at least one day of publishing each week. In Wheeling, that meant that the Saturday edition of the Intelligencer and the Sunday edition of the News-Register would be replaced by the Sunday . . .
Good-bye, Dilbert
Has our local Ogden newspaper done the right thing, has it joined “cancel culture”, or is there another reason why the strip is not in this morning’s newspaper?

Is Trump done?
Maybe not, but it would appear that Trump has lost the Wheeling Intelligencer
I’m trying not to make too big of a deal out of it (I realize that it’s not quite at the level of Lyndon Johnson losing Walter Cronkite in 1968), but today, Donald Trump appears to have lost the Wheeling Intelligencer. This morning, not one, but two of the Intelligencer’s syndicated columnists suggested that it’s time for Trump to leave . . .
A look at Ogden's “Best of the Ohio Valley Award”
Is it an accurate reading of who are the best businesses in the Ohio Valley or another revenue-generating promotion from our local Ogden newspapers?
The largest headline on the front page of today’s Wheeling Intelligencer’s tells us:
Simply The Best
As the subheading explains:
Readers Choose The Best Of The Ohio Valley
Yes, it’s time for the results of Ogden’s annual reader survey of Ohio Valley businesses. As the article explains, . . .
