The McKinley/Mooney battle begins
West Virginia’s congressional redistricting has been completed and the results will pit District 1’s current congressman, David McKinley, against District 2’s Alex Mooney. I would think that we will be seeing and hearing from both of them right up until the primary next spring. Both were on WV Metro News this week. Here are my reactions.. . .

The News-Register weighs in on WV redistricting
Is there a less trustworthy source?
This weekend's Wheeling News-Register editorial discussed the various proposals for West Virginia redistricting:
many maps took the easy and predictable route by forming a twisty east-west line across the state that would keep the growth areas of Morgantown and Martinsburg together.

Some thoughts on covering West Virginia elections
A look at how Ogden and its political reporter do their part for the Republican Party
On Tuesday, I wrote about the Wheeling Intelligencer's editorial celebrating their birthday as a newspaper and in particular, the "wide range of opinion" found on their editorial page. The House votes on removing Confederate statutes from the Capitol
Guess how our local congressman, David McKinley (who refers to the Civil War as the War of Northern Aggression), voted?
From the Associated Press:
The House has approved a bill that would remove Confederate statues from the Capitol as well as a bust of Roger Taney, the U.S. chief justice known for an infamous pro-slavery decision. The legislation now moves to the Democratic-controlled Senate. https://t.co/ayVdrpCLUf— The Associated Press (@AP) June 30, . . .
