On the same page as Trump: Senator Capito on immigration and building the wall
(with afternoon update)
On immigration
This is what Senator Capito told MetroNews yesterday:
“Anyone who wishes to immigrate to the United States should do so through the legal process in compliance with our laws,” she said. “I know we can do better than some of the stories of family separation being reported in the news recently, and it’s . . .
What's Senator Joe been doing?
Demonstrating courage on keeping families together!
From The Daily Beast earlier this afternoon:
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), a conservative member of the Democratic Party, announced his support on Monday for the Keep Families Together Act, making him the final Democratic member (plus independents Angus King and Bernie . . .

Senator Capito makes some news
She'll be meeting with the President on funding for his border wall and co-leading the efforts to secure the necessary funding
Compared to our other West Virginia senator, Joe Manchin, Shelley Moore Capito seldom makes news. I think she likes to keep a low profile and I've noted on a couple of occasions that she looks uncomfortable with some of the more front-and-center, purely-political responsibilities of her office. As the Associated Press headlined it in one of its many reports:
Watchdog: Comey . . .
Remember that Department of the Interior study on the health impacts of mountain removal that was canceled last year for no apparent reason?
You’ll be glad to know that Interior’s inspector general investigated why it was canceled
Unfortunately, we still don’t have a reason for the cancelation
On Tuesday, Reuters published an important story on why last year’s major study of the effects of mountaintop removal was abruptly terminated:
The U.S. Interior Department has been unable to adequately explain why it canceled a $1 million study on the . . .

Another brick in the advertising/editorial wall?
No, there is no wall at Ogden
An increasingly important topic for media ethicists is the wall that should exist between news content and advertising; specifically, the important principle that the advertising side of a medium does not influence the editorial side. For Ogden, there’s not much wall – especially when the advertiser is Ogden itself.
Last year, for . . .
