News from the West Virginia Trump Party
Hey, what have you done for us lately, Shelley?
Most likely because her son is running for governor of West Virginia, Republican WV Senator Shelley Moore Capito recently broke a long silence and formally endorsed Donald Trump for President (I wrote about it here). Yesterday, Donald Trump Jr. responded:
Shelley Moore Capito is part of Senate GOP Leadership & just voted to send billions to Ukraine. She's not up for reelection this year, but her RINO son is running for Governor of West Virginia.

MAGA - Send a message to the Ukraine First RINOs & OPPOSE @MooreCapitoWV for #WVGov!
An appropriate reward for your efforts, Senator.
Patrick Morrisey has a medical degree. Who knew?
Can someone help me with this? The person who interviewed the president about classified documents does not have a medical degree. As far as I know, neither does West Virginia’s attorney general. So how is it appropriate that Patrick Morrisey can use an official state account to pass judgement on the mental fitness of the President of the United States as this post is from the official Twitter account of the West Virginia’s Attorney General’s office:
BREAKING: The WV AG is urging Vice President Kamala Harris to invoke her powers under Section 4 of the 25th Amendment and declare that President Joe Biden is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.

Not making this up: one of the Republican candidates seeking to replace Morrisey believes that Joe Biden incited an insurrection
From the West Virginia Record, here’s Republican state senator and candidate to replace Morrisey, Mike Stuart:
“Biden’s ongoing invasion and insurrection on the nation’s border and the Special Counsel’s report citing serious cognitive and competency issues demands we assess President Biden’s qualification to remain as President or serve a second term,” said Stuart, also a former U.S. Attorney. “President Biden’s incitement and invitation for the invasion of at least eight million illegal migrants at the southern border is a legitimate and real insurrection.
“The 14th Amendment bars from office anyone who took an oath to uphold the Constitution but then engaged in insurrection against it. President Biden invited the border crisis, incited the border crisis, and has refused to uphold the Constitution.”
Biden “engaged in insurrection”? Is Stuart confused? Can Stuart be tested?
And is this what you're talking about, Mike? Oops.

The WV Trump’s Party short memories on raw milk
From reporter Lori Kersey at West Virginia Watch:
The House of Delegates Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources advanced a bill that would allow the sale of raw milk in the state, reports @LoriKerseyWV.https://t.co/0TT3uh5lH5
— West Virginia Watch (@WV_Watch) February 7, 2024
A similar attempt was made in 2016. The AP reported what happened next. (I wrote about it here.):
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Some West Virginia lawmakers and capital staffers had a very bad weekend after drinking raw milk to celebrate a law loosening restrictions on the product. Now state health officials are investigating whether the milk was to blame for their fever, vomiting and diarrhea, and weighing allegations the raw-milk party broke the law.
Esquire columnist Charlie Pierce was a bit more to the point:
Some legislators there successfully removed the jackboots of Louis Pasteur from the necks of the people who sell milk in that state. To that end, a bunch of them made a big show of gulping down raw milk. That took guts, many of which became visible shortly thereafter.
