The WV GOP brags about improving the state's business climate and attracting job creators
A quick fact check
Earlier today, I saw this from the WV GOP:
Thanks to the hard work of Governor @JimJusticeWV and Republican leaders in the @WVLegislature, our state’s tax rankings are improving, and job creators are noticing West Virginia is a great place to start a business, create jobs, and raise a family. https://t.co/gMfPUIy1Ep

Based on my past experience with the WV GOP’s content, I was skeptical and so I decided to research their conclusion that Republicans had improved West Virginia tax rankings. Here is a screenshot of the cited Tax Foundation’s West Virginia listing:
Are the rankings improving as the WVGOP suggests? No, the rankings have actually gotten slightly worse. I then did a quick search of other economic rankings and found that Forbes magazine’s most recent “Best States for Business” listed West Virginia at 49th. (We beat Alaska.) The WVGOP tweet also mentions that “job creators are noticing West Virginia.” I don’t think so. U.S. News recently looked at “the best states for job opportunities” and ranked West Virginia 50th.
This is the kind of spin we get from the WV Republican Party. I wouldn’t be surprised if some version of this ends up in our local Republican propaganda outlets.
Speaking of Republicans:
There's a new environment and energy power broker in the Senate: Shelley Moore Capito.https://t.co/KSMvC56bGz

Apparently, WV's Senator Capito will head the Environment and Public Works Committee.
