Capito: still waiting
From Herald-Mail Media, yesterday:
When asked about the controversy involving President Donald Trump’s telephone conversation with Ukraine’s president, Capito said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s statements in favor of impeachment before any of the supposed evidence surfaced “shows the political nature of it.”
“When I first read the transcript . . . there wasn’t a whole lot there I saw that was rising to the level of the hysteria that preceded it,” she said. “There’s still more information coming out, so we’ll have to see where this whole thing goes.”
Translation: I’m still waiting for my talking points on this matter.
(Just a thought: after Trump’s press conference earlier today, it may be a while.)
Republicans: “Don’t confuse me with the facts.”
From Business Insider:
President Donald Trump has publicly admitted he discussed Joe Biden with Ukraine and the White House released a memo on his July 25 phone call that shows he asked his Ukrainian counterpart to investigate the former vice president and his son, Hunter Biden. Still, only 40% of Republican voters believe he did so, according to a Monmouth University poll released Tuesday.
