The House votes on removing Confederate statutes from the Capitol
Guess how our local congressman, David McKinley (who refers to the Civil War as the War of Northern Aggression), voted?
From the Associated Press:
The House has approved a bill that would remove Confederate statues from the Capitol as well as a bust of Roger Taney, the U.S. chief justice known for an infamous pro-slavery decision. The legislation now moves to the Democratic-controlled Senate. https://t.co/ayVdrpCLUf

CNN's Manu Raju has the details:
McCarthy and Scalise voted to remove the statues. Stefanik voted against it. https://t.co/SSwB7iwEyO pic.twitter.com/F1eh5ZheWg

All Democrats and 67 Republicans voted for the bill. Our local Republican representative, David McKinley, voted against the bill as did WV's other representatives, Carol Miller and Alex Mooney. McKinley's vote did not surprise me since he refers to the Civil War as the War of Northern Aggression. Do these representatives know West Virginia's history? I think they do. No, this is one of those cultural issues that I wrote about in my previous post.
