News from WV's senate race
Later today: Donald Trump, Jr., Sean Spicer and Jason Miller to attend Morrisey fundraiser
According to The Hill:
Donald [Trump, Jr.] will host a fundraiser on Monday for West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey (R), who is challenging incumbent Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), a top target for Republicans this cycle.
Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer and former Trump campaign spokesman Jason Miller will also be on hand for the New York City fundraiser, according to an invitation obtained by The Hill.
That’s quite a crew. I guess Paul Manafort had other things to do this week.
Maybe this is why
From last week in Politico:
An outside group aligned with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is abruptly halting a planned ad offensive in the West Virginia Senate race, an early blow for the Republican Party in a critical midterm contest.
One Nation, a prominent conservative group, on Thursday canceled hundreds of thousands of dollars in TV and radio spending in the state. The organization had planned a $750,000 campaign casting Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin, a top GOP target, as weak on immigration.
Morrisey’s new TV ad accuses Manchin of lying to Trump
From The Hill:
West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey (R) rolled out a new digital ad on Monday accusing Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) of "lying" to President Trump about key votes and attacking him for having a "liberal" record, as the senator considers Trump’s nominee for Supreme Court.
The ad accuses Manchin, who’s running for reelection in a state that Trump won by 41 points in 2016, of having "lied" to Trump by telling the president he would support ObamaCare repeal and the GOP tax plan, but instead voting against those bills.
Lying to our lying President? (How would Morrisey know?) Is this the best that Morrisey can do? Maybe he should go back to “blowing up Washington.”
