New West Virginia poll results
The political results of the latest Metro News poll of likely West Virginia voters were released yesterday and today. In the race for president: Trump got 49% to Clinton's 31% with Libertarian Johnson getting 10% and Green Stein receiving 4%. (West Virginians, according to the poll's director, are enthusiastic for Trump.)
The poll also surveyed the approval and disapproval ratings for those in office: Governor Tomblin faired the best with a 53% approval rating, Senator Manchin had a 50% approval vs. a 31% disapproval, Senator Capito was 47% vs. 27%, and President Obama was 28% vs. 60% disapproval.
In the race for governor the poll found Democrat Jim Justice with a large lead over Republican Bill Cole. The specifics:
Justice, the Democratic nominee, was favored by 46 percent of those who took part in the poll while the Republican nominee, Cole, received 32 percent. Mountain Party nominee Charlotte Pritt is at 8 percent and Libertarian David Moran at 5 percent. Nine percent of those surveyed said they were undecided.
The poll discusses additional issues and tomorrow's release will examine opinions about sports.
I doubt that you find these numbers confusing. If you do, however, I would venture a guess that Mike Myer will be along sometime this weekend to explain what these poll numbers really mean. Additionally, look for yet another editorial telling us why Republican Bill Cole is the greatest!
