Covering yet another Republican get-together
Here's the opening sentence of the Intelligencer's front-page, semi-weekly installment of "what Republican candidates are thinking with obligatory picture of David McKinley":
West Virginia gubernatorial candidate Bill Cole says he “prays for a Donald Trump White House.”
The other noteworthy quote came from Attorney General Patrick Morrisey who discussed what would happen to the litigation against the Obama administration and the EPA if he were to lose the upcoming election:
“Just imagine . . . if I didn’t prevail, the coalition would fall apart,” he said.
Note -- ellipses are in the original.
Additional note -- Reporter Joselyn King did not mention whether Morrisey hurt himself reaching around to pat himself on the back.
I apologize for missing last month's coverage of this informative series. The best quote from that meeting was from the Republican candidate for state commissioner of agriculture, State Senator Kent Leonhardt who uttered this non-sequitur:
“Did everybody eat today?” he asked those present. “You need to care about who your commissioner of agriculture is.”
I'm going to miss this series.
