Congressman McKinley in the news
"If it’s not one thing, it’s another"-- Congressman McKinley tells us that it's time to move on
This morning, Metro News reported that local congressman David McKinley believes that we are wasting time on distractions -- specifically, President Trump and former FBI Director James Comey:
McKinley believes the Comey testimony is just the latest issue being touted as a distraction from the Trump Administration’s agenda. He believes it’s deliberate.
“There are people who want to continue to undermine this administration by allowing this to continue. If it’s not one thing, it’s another,” he said. “I think everyone should take a deep breath and focus on why we are there. If he does do something wrong, then the book will be thrown at him.”
Interesting. Is the congressman really blaming his own party for this "deliberate" behavior since they control both the House and the Senate?
Finally:
“When I come back in the district, they’re not asking me about this subject,” he explained. “They want to know about jobs or how we’re moving on healthcare. They’re more interested in that area.”
Not to get too nitpicky, congressman, but how would you know? When do you ever meet with your constituents? (Sorry, occasionally sitting around with a couple of veterans isn't enough.)
McKinley did comment upon Comey and Trump on Metro News "Talkline" on Friday:
First District Congressman David McKinley, also a guest on “Talkline” Friday, said from what he heard of Comey’s testimony it doesn’t sound like collusion or obstruction.
“Not from what they said. Let’s let the committee continue to explore but from what I heard there was no obstruction,” McKinley said.
McKinley Welcomes Girls State at WJU
That's the headline that the Intelligencer placed at the top of the front page this morning. Just a hunch, but I doubt that the congressman faced any tough questions here. And despite the headline, the last third of the article totally ignores the girls (as it should be, damn it!) in order to concentrate on McKinley's opinion on what the House of Representatives has been doing in recent weeks.
