On Donald Trump
On April 5, Newsmax, the far-right news service that appears to have adopted WV Congressman Alex Mooney, recently featured his views on the Trump indictment:
If they can do this to President Donald Trump, they can do this to my constituents. Anybody in West Virginia can be witch-hunted like this. You are not safe.
I think the Congressman is onto to something -- who among us has not falsified business records to coverup our involvement with a porn star?
On guns
Newsmax, also recently featured another Mooney article: this time about his endorsement from a gun rights organization:
Gun Owners of America has announced its endorsement of Alex Mooney, a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate in West Virginia, saying he is "just the kind of principled, pro-Second Amendment person we need."
Yes, I’m sure he is. (By the way, I could not find any comment or tweet from the congressman on the recent gun attacks.)
Mooney-sponsored legislation
The congressman is also keeping busy introducing legislation that is not a major concern to his constituency and, in all likelihood, not going anywhere:
The Images Act:
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressmen Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34) and Alex Mooney (WV-02) introduced H.R. 2568, the Improvement of Mapping, Addresses, Geography, Elevation and Structures (IMAGES) Act of 2023. https://t.co/Xr4x14n65O

And the Congressman is still interested in returning the U.S. to the Gold Standard. This is Mooney’s third attempt on this one:
Reps. Alex Mooney, Andy Biggs and Paul Gosar, introduced H.R. 2435, the Gold Standard Restoration Act, to facilitate the repegging of the volatile Federal Reserve note to a fixed weight of gold bullion.https://t.co/Iq8bFbyVxB

And what is the likely Democratic candidate doing?
Touring the Ukraine with Brad Paisley:
I was honored to meet with President @ZelenskyyUa & members of his cabinet in Kyiv to learn firsthand about the challenges they face as this war rages on. And it was my pleasure to travel with West Virginian & @U24_gov_ua Ambassador @BradPaisley & witness an inspiring performance pic.twitter.com/uLLkL6IZ6B

While his staff serves his constituents back home:
Manchin Mobile Monday is hitting the road to assist West Virginians with state & federal issues in all 55 counties. If you need assistance with the VA, SSA, or any other agency, I encourage you to stop by, bring any relevant paperwork & speak with a member of my staff. pic.twitter.com/4ox4aFNFbg

Just a thought: if the WV senate contest comes down to Mooney vs. Manchin, my money will be on Manchin.
