Bring back the gold standard!

The gold standard would protect against Washington’s irresponsible spending habits and the creation of money out of thin air. Prices would be shaped by economics rather than the instincts of bureaucrats.

Mooney has sponsored little legislation in his congressional career. My impression of him is that he is a lazy congressman who cares little about legislating. Why is he doing this? Who is he trying to impress? Here is his legislation -- note that no other congressman was willing to serve as a cosponsor:
A possible explanation? Louis Gohmert (R - Texas) is usually considered the "dumbest guy in Congress." Gohmert is retiring, however. Perhaps Mooney wants the title.
