West Virginia's latest covid lottery winner is announced
Yesterday, West Virginia's latest covid million-dollar lottery winner was announced. Here’s WV Governor Jim Justice awarding the top prize of a million dollars to Heather Coburn who works at Bill Cole Auto Mall in Bluefield:
If you are wondering, her employer (pictured above) is the same “Bill Cole” who was the Republican President of the West Virginia Senate and who later ran for governor. As the Charleston Gazette’s Phil Kabler has also pointed out, Cole has been a major contributor to Republican candidates:
At a Sept. 16, 2020 campaign fundraiser for Justice, Bill Cole and four family members each gave the $2,800 maximum contribution to the Justice campaign. https://t.co/BIEMDWMcE8

Okay, it's an interesting coincidence. Still, what are chances? Actually, about one in 380,000.
By the way, Ogden's state political reporter, Steven Allen Adams, tweeted that he thought it was a good photo-op for Cole. (I'm not sure why.) He also noted that Cole may be running for governor in 2024.
