What have our Republican senatorial candidates been doing lately?
Alex Mooney
Saluting the flag
Like his effort to return the U.S. to the gold standard, Alex Mooney continues to sponsor meaningful legislation that will benefit all West Virginians:
It is essential that the Stars and Stripes are always flown high at federal buildings. Proud to be a co-sponsor. #PatriotismNotPrideAct https://t.co/oN72SoOq4b

College admissions
Additionally, Mooney supports the Supreme Court’s decision on college admissions:
The Supreme Court’s decision affirms a core principle of our Constitution that no institution should be allowed to discriminate based on race. College admissions decisions should be based on merit.https://t.co/VU3tfd51cW

Merit? Yeah, right. You mean, like using your relatives to determine your merit?
It’s time to end legacy admissions. Each year thousands of students are admitted to colleges around the nation only because their parents went there.

Legacy admissions are back-door discriminatory policies that overwhelmingly advantage wealthy, white students over everyone else. https://t.co/Kzsq2mMANS
Jim Justice
What about those budget surpluses?
According to our governor: WV has lots and lots of excess money:
Today, I’m beyond proud to announce that West Virginia ended our fiscal year with a $1.8 Billion surplus, shattering multiple records. pic.twitter.com/lA4pU194IE

But as a number of commenters have asked, is this a real surplus or a manufactured one to aid his election:
“Current-dollar GDP increased in 47 states and the District of Columbia in the first quarter, with the percent change ranging from 14.1 percent in Nebraska to –2.9 percent in West Virginia.”

Quite the rocket ship ride. Thanks, Jim Justice. https://t.co/nc3MhnHYOd
Regardless, among other negatives, there will be significantly higher healthcare costs for state workers:
When I said revenues are slowing down, here's what it looks like. Before 2023's tax cuts have been fully implemented (and with historically low unemployment & high inflation driving high revenues) tax receipts are declining w/ an abundance of unmet needs across state programs https://t.co/R4BvXBvVbk pic.twitter.com/f2a8ePofF0

That's nothing to be concerned about and besides, the governor has declared July 3 a holiday for state employees:
I've issued an order declaring July 3 a holiday for state employees. This Independence Day, let's reflect on our freedoms and honor the sacrifices of those who served. Moreover, let's spend time with loved ones and enjoy the great things WV has to offer.https://t.co/10oLBfqduH

This is quite a battle.
