Trump indicted and his West Virginia sycophants quickly respond
West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey was the first to respond:
Trump’s indictment is a travesty. This is a political prosecution. Period. #TrumpIndictment pic.twitter.com/oj9jgw78VT
— Patrick Morrisey (@MorriseyWV) March 30, 2023
Is it appropriate for the state's chief legal officer to comment on this without having seen the actual indictment? Of course, appropriateness has never stopped Morrisey before. I've also asked this before: does this man have a real law degree?
West Virginia Treasurer Riley Moore soon followed:
No rational person can look at the facts of each case and conclude Hunter Biden should walk free, but Donald Trump should be indicted.
— Riley Moore (@RileyMooreWV) March 30, 2023
The political activism of Soros-backed prosecutors has made a mockery of our justice system.
Hunter Biden? George Soros? Get out those dog whistles, Riley.
And here is Representative Alex Mooney:
My statement on today’s disgusting abuse of power used to indict President Trump. pic.twitter.com/hyoMtWbCKw
— Rep. Alex Mooney (@RepAlexMooney) March 30, 2023
Like Riley Moore, Mooney invokes "George Soros" -- I didn't realize that this antisemitic stuff played that well to the base. And of the three reactions, Mooney easily wins the "Most Bizarre Sentence Award":
"Make no mistake, this is a political assault on hard working families, gun owners, veterans and the people that teach their children that there are only two genders."
Wow! Who knew?
