Today’s News-Register editorial may have reached a new low in callousness, taste and hypocrisy
And don't forget to subtract penalty points for not giving proper credit to Representative Louis Gohmert
This afternoon’s Ogden “newspaper” defended President Trump by resorting to the style and level of argument used by Representative Louis Gohmert (R, Texas). The Republican congressman from Texas is infamous for his racism, sexism, nativism, and fill-in-the-blankism. (Typical is when he wanted to make César Chavez's birthday "National Border Control Day.") Yesterday, Gohmert questioned FBI Peter Strzok:
“I can’t help wonder,” said Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Tex.), “when I see you looking there with a little smirk, how many times did you look so innocent into your wife’s eye and lie to her about Lisa Page?”
His line of questioning was attacked by both Democrats and Republicans. Here’s Fox News host and former George W. Bush press secretary Dana Perino:
Several Republicans, including Louie Gohmert, I will say, went way overboard. It felt like a public lynching. And I thought it was terrible.
However, that didn’t stop our local Ogden “newspaper” from stealing Gohmert’s argument. From today’s News-Register editorial “Ask Strzok’s Wife If He’s Trustworthy”:
What of his believability, however?
Why not ask his wife about that?
Strzok’s anti-Trump tirades, after all, were made to an FBI lawyer, Lisa Page — with whom he was having an affair.
Yes, remember when the News-Register editorialized that Donald Trump couldn’t be trusted because he was having an affair with a porn star while his wife was pregnant? Of course, not – neither Wheeling “newspaper” has ever said an editorial word about Trump’s affairs nor has either questioned his trustworthiness. Is this a new level of hypocrisy on the News-Register’s part? I’m not sure – there’s so much competition.
