The WV Trump Party and the VP debate fallout
West Virginia District 2 candidate for Congress, Riley Moore:
Congratulations to my friend @JDVance on one of the most dominant debate wins in American history.

Cool, calm, collected and ready to lead.

"Dominant?" Moore may be too young to remember but for different reasons, Vance's performance at this year's VP debate probably ranks right up there with Dan Quayle's and James Stockdale's performance in 1988, as well as Sarah Palin’s in 2008. (Quayle and Palin were members of what used to be the Republican Party and their performances resonated in the popular culture for weeks afterwards.) It should be noted here, and the above examples certainly prove the point, that candidate debates are not the same as academic debates in how they are scored or how they are remembered. Other than Vance complaining that he was under the impression that there would be no fact checking by the moderators (something he was clearly taking advantage of), his debate legacy will probably be his unwillingness to admit that Donald Trump lost the election:
Walz: Trump is still saying he didn't lose the election. Did he lose the 2020 election?

Vance: Did Kamala Harris censor Americans?
Walz: That is a damning nonanswer. pic.twitter.com/f59Q8H1BA4
Vance has had a number of chances to correct the record, but earlier today, he answered that Trump DID win the 2020 election:

Political writer David Roberts has a great suggestion:
"Did Donald Trump lose the 2020 election?" is not something that should just pop up at a VP debate. Every single elected Republican should be asked that question every single time they face a reporter. This should have been standard practice since 2020.

In West Virginia, a great place to start would be the upcoming Morrisey/Williams WV gubernatorial debate. It should be noted that following the 2020 election, Morrisey, wasted thousands of WV tax dollars as he unsuccessfully challenged the election results in several states that Biden won. This, by the way, was Morrisey’s response to the debate:
The differences between Vance and Walz are very plain to see. Vance is winning the debate by staying on message and focusing on Harris’ disastrous policies. Walz looks out of his league and anxious. #Trump2024 #VPDebate2024

Finally, no surprises here: no one in West Virginia's Trump Party has commented upon yesterday's refiling by Jack Smith in the Trump January 6 case.
