Quick takes
Manchin will not re-introduce his gun bill
According to the Washington Post:
West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin, the co-sponsor of failed legislation to expand background checks for gun purchases, doesn’t have any plans to revive the measure in the wake of the Oregon shooting.
“We don’t have any statement on the shooting and don’t have any plans to reintroduce the bill,” a spokesman for the senator said on Friday.
Is Senator Joe that pessimistic about getting the legislation passed or is he afraid of the gun lobby and their "#BootJoe.com" campaign?
West Virginia - worst state for teachers?
WalletHub is out with another one of their state studies. This one is "2015’s Best and Worst States for Teachers."
In order to help ease the process of finding the best teaching opportunities in the U.S. — and draw attention to the states needing improvement — WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 13 key metrics. Our data set ranges from the median starting salary to the projected number of teachers per student by year 2022.
West Virginia ranks 51st overall. It was 47th on "Lowest Annual Salary (Adjusted for Cost of Living)"and it was apparently higher on a few of the other metrics.
