For Manchin, no good deed goes unpunished
He not only joined the "radical liberals," he led the charge
Morrisey attacks Manchin for joining the “radical liberals” in supporting the Keep Families Together Act
From WV Metro News:
In response to U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin’s support of a bill to end a policy dividing families entering the country illegally, Manchin’s Republican opponent for Senate, West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, said Tuesday that legislation would benefit drug dealers and those involved in human trafficking. . . .
Morrisey said in a press release Manchin is joining “radical liberals” in Washington to push an agenda that allows people to circumvent legal methods of immigration.
He was the last Democrat to get on board, but an Ogden newspaper claims Manchin led the effort
Yesterday, the Ogden-owned Marietta Times used this headline to explain the “Keep Families Together Act”:
Manchin Leads Push to End Family Policy on Immigration
Huh? As I wrote about on Monday, a reluctant Joe Manchin was the 49th and final Democrat to sign-on to the immigration bill but the Marietta Times still headlines him as the leader. Accurate reporting aside, it would appear that Ogden Newspapers are getting an early jump on their support for Patrick Morrisey.
Given Morrisey's statement and the Ogden headline, I assume that both Morrisey and the Marietta Times believe that a majority of West Virginians support this aspect of President Trump's immigration policy. I'd like to see the numbers -- I hope some non-affiliated polling group takes a look at this.
