Myer lectures us on the Constitution
Yes, this material will be on the next test
Most of today's Mike Myer column, "Celebrate, Defend Constitution," is a Myer civics lesson on the Constitution which he calls "a virtual blueprint for our government." Along the way he knocks liberals (it's required in all Myer columns) for suggesting that the document needs to adapt to a changing world. No, as a strict constructionist, Myer believes that the interpretation of the Constitution is to be limited to the letter, not the spirit, of the document.
Here's a thought for a future Myer column: how about a narrow and literal interpretation of the 2nd Amendment? That, or maybe since he's a firearm owner (a single-shot musket, perhaps?), maybe he could describe for his readers the "well-regulated militia" that he belongs to that justifies his gun ownership.
