According to the Sunday News-Register -- nothing happened in the world yesterday or Friday
Our Sunday "newspaper" continues its mission of providing no or low information for the uninformed
If you go to Kiosko.net and look at the front page of today's major U.S. newspapers, you'd probably conclude that no one story dominates the news. However, most of the five newspapers featured at the top of the site dedicated major space to the following stories:
- President Trump's attendance at the G-20 Summit
- The meeting between President Trump and Vladimir Putin
- North Korean missiles
- Iraqis battling ISIS in Mosul
- The Republican health care proposal
And then there is the Wheeling News-Register: neither its front page nor its front section (what the paper likes to call its "news" section) cover any of these stories. President Trump is not mentioned anywhere on today's News-Register front page. In fact, Trump's name does not appear anywhere in the news section of the paper.
Here are the only two national stories deemed newsworthy enough to appear in today's news section (both on page A4):
American Gored at Bull Run Promises to Run Again
and
'True Blood' Actor Ellis Dead at 39
And finally, here are the headlines for the four stories that did appear on today's front page ranked by size of headline:
